Caring for Orphans in Uganda
Report from WRF member Jonathan Bruce Muwanguzi of Wakiso, Uganda
I have been involved in the BOSAFWE programme , a programme with three projects, the 1st project is the orphan care which offers care to the orphan of 3 years to 16 years of age primarily targeting the orphan child headed families, the 2nd is the sustainable agriculture and food security offering training and physical participation in agriculture targeting the vulnerable groups while the 3rd is the women empowerment offering the chance to single mothers who covers the biggest part of this war torn and diseased community of the northern Uganda.
These projects have been led by our senior pastor, Margaret Nakintu, and have really enhanced the Christian and the general community living among us. We have one resource centre located at the orphanage centre which also host our fellowships, hence creating the chance to the orphans to participate in the developmental programmes which are very helpful in their future living. Our regret is the way of achieving the succeful goals and implementing the programme budget which must lead to sufficient care of the orphans and upliftment of the vulnerable groups from the depth of want to a better level of living through utilizing the available volume of dormant land.
If you would like more information about the content (or any other aspect) of our programme, or if you have suggestions about how we might attract more individuals and churches to participate in our programe, please feel free to contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
