WRF Board Chairman Rick Perrin Discusses How President Obama Has Sided With Hamas
The Obama administration has sent clear signals that despite empty words of solidarity with Israel, America is firmly on the side of Hamas in the current hot war in Gaza.
Consider: When American Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Cairo a few days ago attempting to negotiate a cease-fire in Gaza, he immediately announced a new $47 million American aid package to Gaza. Reliable analysts suggest that since Hamas is part the Gaza government, it is Hamas who will control it. A big portion of this undesignated money will go to purchase more rocket launchers which will fire at Israeli civilians. Much of the money will line the pockets of corrupt officials. Very little, if any, will dribble down to the people who need relief.
The present chief financial supporter of Hamas is Qatar. The United States now assumes this role. Qatar is a U.S. ally. We have a base in Qatar. That is presumably why Kerry, desperate to work out a cease fire deal, proposed Qatar as the mediator. The proposal was immediately rejected by Israel, and for good reason. Kerry’s proposal in effect gave legitimacy to the Hamas position. It was a breathtaking diplomatic blunder, universally condemned around the world. Not even Obama Administration supporters defend it. But it was a clear U.S. signal of whom it supports in this conflict.
The Israelis are being careful how they comment. After all, they cannot afford to alienate the American people or the majority within the American Congress who do support Israel. But former Israeli Ambassador to the United States, Michael Oren, made it clear in a statement on July 29 that Israel feels the United States has betrayed her.
Indeed, Presidential Press Secretary, Josh Earnest, commented that same day that Israel needs to do more to avoid killing innocent Palestinian civilians and ought to try harder to come to a cease fire. More pressure on our supposed ally. He omitted to mention that Hamas has now for the third time been caught hiding rockets in schools or hospitals in order to use women and children as shields, and that it is Hamas who has refused to stop fighting.
All of this comes following the short-lived order by the FAA a week ago forbidding American airliners to land in Israel. Ostensibly because it wasn’t safe. That ban was lifted after 36 hours, yielding to heavy pressure. Ben Gurion Airport is not any more unsafe than, say, the airports any other war-torn Middle Eastern countries where American planes fly without restriction. To all appearances, this was a blatant political effort to cripple Israel’s economy which depends heavily on tourism.
A day or so ago Nancy Pelosi called Hamas “a humanitarian organization.” On any other planet the truth would be acknowledged: Hamas is a dedicated terrorist group whose foundational documents declare its purpose is to destroy not just Israel, but every Jew on earth. That sounds like the echo of Nazi Germany. Actually it is worse. Anti Semitism, which had a hiatus for sixty years after World War II and the post war vow, “Never again!”, has now reappeared all over the world. It lies at the center of Islam. It has risen with renewed vengeance in Europe. And now, it seems, it emanates from the highest office in America.
With its Middle Eastern enemies otherwise preoccupied, Israel has responded to Hamas attacks, determined to deliver a knockout blow against its recalcitrant enemy. There is no room to negotiate. Israel is in a battle for its life. Hamas is fixated on Israel’s destruction. And America is on the wrong side, for the first time in our history.
Struggles like these have gone on in the Middle East for over 3000 years. The Bible (II Chronicles 19) contains the story of how the godly king of Judah joined forces with the extremely evil King Ahab in one of those wars. After Judah’s forces had been defeated the Bible says, “Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to king Jehoshaphat, ‘Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the Lord and so bring wrath on yourself from the Lord?’ …Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the Lord who is with you when you render judgment. Now then let the fear of the Lord be upon you; be very careful what you do, for the fear of the Lord our God will have no part in unrighteousness, or partiality, or the taking of a bribe.’” (v 2, 6-7) Words to heed.
Mr. Obama represents not just himself. He has positioned America, probably against the will of most of the American people, on the side of evil, supporting the wicked. He has placed us all in danger of the wrath of God.
