WRF Member Larry Sibley Describes Inter-Religious Dialogue Opportunities

WRF Member Larry Sibley Describes Inter-Religious Dialogue Opportunities June 5, 2012 WRF member Larry Sibley has recently used the World Council of Churches, The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, and The World Evangelical Alliance document “Christian Witness in a Multi-Religious World: Recommendations for Conduct” to anchor a series of discussions in the Cheltenham (Pennsylvania) Area Multifaith Council.

Under the title "Dialog in a Multireligious World," the document was introduced at the October 2011 meeting of the council and in subsequent meetings the recommendations for conduct were discussed one by one. Plans are now being made for fall 2012 dialog meetings where two speakers from different religious traditions will compare and contrast their understandings of a topic; leading to a general discussion by the membership. Part of the council's mission is to foster mutual understanding through listening and response to forthright presentations of the members' traditions. Sibley finds this an interesting venue in which to present the evangelical Reformed perspective.
