Dear brothers and sisters of the World Reformed Fellowship:This is our first ministry report to all members of the WRF and we seek your assistance. Each year in two sections of Uganda, Mbale and Kapuchorwa, the people carry out cultural ceremonies involving circumcision. In Mbale, only the men are circumcised but in Kapuchorwa, both men and women are circumcised. The ceremonies they perform are evil and contribute to the spread of AIDS and HIV. The government of Uganda discourages female genital circumcision but, since these ceremonies take place far from the capital city of Kampala, the government’s position has little influence. Our church is seeking to teach the people that the practice of female circumcision must be stopped. Last month, we went to evangelize there and about seventy people were saved. We hope to plant a church in that area in order that the gospel might be preached there regularly. We have left Pastor David Gonyite in that area in order to provide some ongoing pastoral care for the people. We would love to get some ideas from brothers and sisters in the WRF which can help us to fight female circumcision in Kapuchorwa. We would also request the prayers of the members of the WRF for our ministry.
