A Ministry Report from Myanmar (May 2012) Submitted by WRF Member Henry Lyan

It gives me joy to write about what the Lord is doing here in the golden land Myanmar. Every time I write I write with excitement and with conviction that the name of our Lord will be exalted on high when His people hears His marvelous works.

The grace of our Lord has enabled us to do His works thus far in Myanmar for which I am absolutely contended and fully satisfied. Our strong desire is to present our lives as living sacrifices in His service for His glory trusting that He is the ultimate God who holds everything in His hands. Understanding the sovereignty of the Almighty in all things strengthens and enforces us to do our best with a great hope in evangelizing, preaching, teaching, counseling, writing, etc… trusting that our responsibility is to give our best to God and leave the rest to Him.Doing mission in Myanmar has been a challenge for us at least. The constant growth of fundamental Buddhism is alarming us that we have no time to sit and talk but “Go and Make Disciples.” Many of us have been “going” without making disciples. That tells us that our mission could not be limited with/to the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost (here to Buddhist), but also must be extended to the training of evangelists, missionaries, pastors, and believers that they will be able to make disciples. On the one hand, the rapid development of liberalism becomes a threat to us in Myanmar. Many western liberal seminaries and universities have successfully trained many from our land and as a result they become the representatives or spokesmen of western liberalism. It is something the evangelical churches in Myanmar are facing today. Politically unstable and unrest, a transitional period, government in Myanmar is not in favor of Christian works. It is a reality we face each day in the service of the eternal King.    Many of us live with fear and serve with fear. Fear is unwanted friend sitting at the guest room of our houses and ministries taking us captive under its power. Ijt is our joy to be in the service of our Lord amid all kinds of challenges and stumbling blocks. It as the matter of fact gives us joy to be used by God as His vessels in order that God’s purpose might be fulfilled at least partially/partly through our works in this world particular in Myanmar. The Lord has given us opportunity to take a mission trip to Kalaymyo, a small town, the northeast part of Myanmar, for the purpose of preaching to the saints and teaching and training to leaders and pastors from different churches. Preaching on different topics such as the authority and reliability of God’s words, Christ and his works, Christian life and walk, the role of men and women in Church and Home, Studies on Christ’s understanding of the end-time, and the roles and responsibilities of Elders in a Local Church followed by the Q & A section. We were there for 10 days teaching and preaching days and nights. Every day we teach from 09:00 AM – 03:30PM. Every night I preach through the book of Jonah with special focus on missions.     We encourage many people to be aware of the mission of the Church and help them to understand that they all have responsibility on their shoulders as believers. Trusting that we have done our part and best by preaching and teaching to the people, we rely on God for the results of the works we performed knowing the fact that He is the author and finisher of all things. He will make the seed of truth we sow grow in due time for His glory and for the extension of His kingdom. We thank the Lord for calling us into His ministry and pouring His grace into ourlives and ministry which is flowing like a river indeed. We also thank Him for using ourlives though underserved and molding our lives each day in order that we might be conformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ. Above all, His grace is sufficient for us in all things. In our weakness His power is made known to us and to people around us. To Him be the glory and honor! Amen.Henry Van C.
