Dr. Nicholls is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the London City Mission in England. On Monday, November 22, 2010, the message below was received from Dr. Nicholls:Free Church of Scotland allows its congregations liberty to sing hymns and to use musical instruments
On Friday, November 19, 2010, the Free Church of Scotland voted on Friday (in a special General Assembly) to give congregations the liberty to use hymns/songs as well as psalms, and also to use musical instruments, in their public worship. The motion was passed somewhat narrowly. I understand that there was a good spirit at the assembly, despite differences over strongly-held views. Some of the brethren who hold to a “psalms only” position may find this difficult to accept. Please pray for them – and for the whole church, that grace, wisdom, and unity in the truth may prevail.
