Brazil's MacKenzie University Hosts International Debate on Darwinism

MACKENZIE PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY IN SAO PAULO, BRAZIL, PROMOTES MAJOR INTERNATIONAL DEBATE ON DARWINISM

In 2008, Mackenzie Presbyterian University held the symposium on Darwinism on its 45,000 student campus in Sao Paulo. This year, when the 150th anniversary of Darwin’s The Origin of Species is commemorated all over the world, the University has decided to repeat the event. Among the scientists invited to speak and debate the theory of evolution and Darwin’s ideas are two Christian scholars, Dr. Paul Nelson and Dr. John Lennox, who will also defend the concept of Intelligent Design. Several well known evolutionists in Brazil were also invited to speak and debate. The main goal of the conference is to promote Intelligent Design theory among faculty and students, as well as the general public. The conference will occur April 14-16, 2009. This event is part of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil project to bring its University back to its Christian origins and foundations.

The report was submitted by WRF Board member Dr. Augustus Nicodemus Lopes, who also serves as the Chancellor of MacKenzie University in Sao Paulo, Brazil.  Dr. Lopes may be contacted at  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
