Presbyterian Church of Australia: GAA decisions on vaccination status and attendance at public worship

The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Australia met by videoconference on Tuesday, 12 October 2021, to discuss the matter of vaccination status and access to public services of worship.

Within hours of the meeting's closure, a false report was published claiming that the meeting was "heated" and that "the GAA has voted to suggest churches re-open when all - vaxxed and unvaxxed - can attend." Such misrepresentations demand an answer. Interest was high, as members laboured to find the right words to express their collective intention. There were many technical aspects to the debate. But at no point was there any unseemly or ungracious behaviour. And the Assembly did not specify the conditions under which church leaders should resume face-to-face worship services.
